Breviarium Romanum pars verna estiva autunalis veri fine rare books

“Quando ho un po’ di denaro mi compro dei libri e, se me ne rimane un poco, acquisto del cibo e dei vestiti” Erasmo da Rotterdam (Rotterdam, 1466/1469 – Basilea, 12 luglio 1536) teologo, umanista e filosofo olandese.









Breviarium Romanum ex Decreto Sancosancti Concilii Tridentini restituti, S. Pii V. Pontificis Maximi jussi editum, Clementis VIII. & Urbani VIII. etc.

c.late 1700s. Contains the approbation of Fr. Philippus Rosa Lanzi, Inquisitor Generalis, dated 1772. The complete Breviary printed in double columns with red and black ink. Several engravings. Quarter-bound in glit black morocco. Front board and spine detached, Rear cords intact but wearing. Significant wear and rubbing to covers/extremities. All edges gilt, but now dull. Pages i-iv, including title-page and front free endpaper lost. Page v/vi is wrinkled with some attendant edge-wear. Ribbon page marker lost. Marbled endpapers. Internally still clean and quite bright. Some scattered, very sparse markings, including an owner's name. Binding is cracked but holding near rear. Otherwise still tightly bound at sewings. Despite significant defects, a scarce antiquarian edition of the Breviarium Romanum. lx,864[ccxl]p
